Invent

Krout constructs plots that are less predictable than some other writers by introducing elements and characters that may not pay off for a number of books if they have significant contributions at all. As I read this entry in the series I did not have any real idea where the story was heading until near the end of the book. While guessing what is coming doesn't always ruin a book for me, it is more enjoyable when I feel like I'm on the ride without any idea of the destination.
