My Review
This is an interesting and well-researched view into Britain and Churchill's leadership during the start of WWII covering the first year of his tenure as prime minister. The pacing and prose read more like a novel instead of some of the drier or less human-centric books on history. It reminded me a good deal of The Arsenal of Democracy by A. J. Baime which I also read recently and also enjoyed. You will walk away from this book with a sense of what it was like to be in London during the German bombings and of the men and women who endured it. This was the first book by Erik Larson I have read and I look forward to reading some of his others.
